Nothing about you leaves this browser. One thing is sent off your device: the caption text of the lesson you are watching, so it can be translated. Everything else stays where it was made.

The short version
Alison Translator collects no personal information. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. The extension has no server of its own — nothing is ever sent to its author.
What leaves your device
One thing: the caption text of the lesson you are watching. To translate a lesson, that text is sent to a translation service along with the target language. Nothing accompanies it — no identifier, no account, no page address, no browsing history.
What stays on your device
- Settings — language, voice speed, volume levels, and which features are on.
- Transcripts — for each lesson you open, the original caption lines, their translations, and their timestamps.
- Translation cache — lines already translated, so the same line is never translated twice.
All of it lives in your browser’s local extension storage. It is not uploaded anywhere, not synced between your devices, and not readable by the author or anyone else.

The translation services handle those requests under their own policies — Google and MyMemory.
The spoken translation
The voice-over is produced by the speech voices already installed in your operating system, through the browser’s built-in speech interface. No audio is recorded, and no text is sent anywhere to generate the sound.
Where the extension runs
Its scripts run only on alison.com lesson pages and inside the player.vimeo.com frame those pages embed. The extension does not read — and cannot read — any other site you visit.
Removing your data
- One lesson — open the Library page and click Delete on it.
- Cached translations — click Clear translation cache in the extension’s popup.
- Everything — remove the extension from
chrome://extensions. Chrome deletes all of its stored data at that point.
Children
The extension is a study aid for an online course platform and is not directed at children under 13. It collects nothing from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and the new version ships with the extension update.
